YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS

Making Exercise Physiology More Accessible

Be Physiology means accessibility: we are mobile-first and able to provide exercise physiology in an environment that works best for people living with a disability or chronic condition.
We are one of a few mobile exercise physiology clinics in Queensland with extensive expertise in spinal cord injuries and complex neurological conditions.
Accessibility should not be a barrier to allied health services, so it is our mission to make exercise physiology more accessible to those who need it most, and more widely prescribed as a method of treatment to people living with a disability or a chronic condition.

What is an Exercise Physiologist?

An exercise physiologist is an allied health professional, who uses exercise as medicine to treat chronic health conditions, such as stroke or spinal cord injuries.
We’re similar to a physiotherapist in that we have a 4-year degree, but we assess and manage conditions by prescribing exercise and movement, whereas a physiotherapist will assess, diagnose and treat your condition through a variety of hands-on skills (such as massage and dry needling). In short, we’re more hands-off, and they’re hands-on.
The difference between us and personal trainers is simply the clientele, as they generally work with people who are not living with a chronic condition.
It’s not about making muscles stronger, it’s about making life easier through movement and exercise.
Movement is our medicine!

If Exercise Was A Pill, It Would Be The Greatest Medicine Of All Time

Why Use An Exercise Physiologist?

There is nothing like exercise when it comes to reducing the likelihood of all-cause mortality (all of the deaths that occur in a population, regardless of the cause!).
The symptoms of chronic conditions can be managed by regular exercise. It can lower blood sugar levels, reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke, improve brain functionality, control the frequency of asthma attacks, and the list goes on.
Exercise is something that many people find hard to commit to and often don’t understand or acknowledge the benefits that it has on their health and everyday life. But, It is extremely important for everyone to understand and acknowledge the benefits that exercise has on their health and lifespan.
We understand that people often feel limited by their function or exercise experience, but we know that with the right guidance, and a little buy-in, we can improve a person’s quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP’s) complete a 4-year university degree in the study of clinical exercise for people with or at risk of chronic and complex medical conditions, with in-depth knowledge of musculoskeletal rehabilitation after injury.

Exercise physiologists aim to achieve lasting behavioural change and address specific health issues as they relate to exercise and activities of daily living. Exercise physiologists are, by far, the most qualified health professionals to provide exercise and rehabilitation for people living with a disability, diabetes, pre-diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, arthritis, COPD, depression, anxiety, and many more. Exercise Physiologists focus on creating exercise programs for people suffering chronic disease and prevention of injury whereas a Physiotherapist is more involved in the diagnosis and acute care after an injury.

No. Referrals are certainly welcome but are not necessary if claiming through your health fund or using you NDIS plan funding. Our referral form can be found here. A referral from your doctor is required when using insurance claims (Workcover/CTP) or Medicare (EPC) funding. Eligibility requirements will need to be discussed with your Doctor.

During your initial consultation, we will go through your medical and physical activity history. This then helps us to understand your specific situation as well as get to know each other. After this assessment, we will work together to choose some goals and create a personalised program just for you!In the subsequent sessions, we will work towards your objective and reassess when we reach your current goals.

Please wear comfortable clothing you can walk and move freely in, and walking shoes or runners. Please also bring a water bottle and a towel for every appointment.

Please bring any paperwork provided by your doctor, any reports and results from imaging (ultrasound/x-ray/CT/MRI) or other information that you think may be relevant to your sessions.

Workcover QLD referrals are accepted. Some additional information will be required before the initial consultation.

You cannot use your health fund and EPC for the same consultation. Often people will use the rebate from the health fund for the initial consultation as they get a greater amount back, then use the EPC funding for the following appointments. Please check with your health fund before your first appointment as it can vary.

All consultations are invoiced electronically, within 24 hours of your appointment. Please contact your fund if you wish to know the exact rebate amount, as this varies depending on your fund and your level of cover. If you’re an NDIS participant, please provide the details for where your invoice should be directed.

We sure are. Be Physiology is proudly a certified NDIS provider #431614680. If you’d like to know more, email us at hello@bephysiology.com.au.

Be Physiology is to be given a minimum of 48hrs notice if a session is to be cancelled. If the session is not cancelled and a client fails to attend their booked session, Be Physiology is entitled to the total session cost and will invoice as required.

If you have any problems or issues with our service we encourage you to visit bephysiology.com.au/feedback to lodge a complaint and this will be promptly handled by Be Physiology’s complaints officer.

The longer you work as an Exercise Physiologist (EP), the more you understand just how amazing exercise is for everyone, without exception. You also get to meet and work with people who have completely changed their lives through their own consistency and determination, this is when you realise that this is more than a job. It saves lives.
My expertise is spinal cord injuries and neurological disorders and helping clients to achieve an improved quality of life through rehabilitation and functional training. Rehabilitation for spinal cord injuries and neurological disorders can be slow but incredibly rewarding for clients when results are achieved, no matter how small. Assisting people through learning useful skills and functional training is the most important role that an EP can play to help people lead a more fulfilled life.
My perspective is different now to when I started, now when I see all the EPs graduating every year and getting excited knowing that they too will get the opportunity to be a part of something special.
Our team is full of people that want to be amazing EPs and who are striving to be the best, there is no better culture than that!

I have always imagined I would go into a career that combined my passion for exercise with the opportunity to help people, and I found my perfect match in Exercise Physiology!
My role has progressed over the last few years, from coaching gymnastics, to becoming a strength and conditioning coach, and now an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
As Be Physiology, I can apply my knowledge and skills to support clients living with neurological conditions, chronic illnesses, pain or injuries.

As both a participant and an EP, I have a keen interest in CrossFit, clinical Pilates, women’s health, and all things exercise-related! Ultimately, I am eager to support a diverse range of clients through their rehabilitation and towards their individualised goals, using movement as medicine.

Exercise Physiologist

Hi, I’m Benji!

I love being able to use my passion for health, fitness, and exercise to support people in moving and feeling their best. As an Exercise Physiologist, I’m lucky to do this every day. Sport and exercise have always played a big role in my life, with interests spanning cricket, athletics, and cross‑country running. These days, you’ll often find me strength training in the gym, running distances from 5km through to marathons, or taking on the occasional HYROX event.

Outside of work, I enjoy catching up with friends over a great coffee or unwinding by playing guitar.

Before joining Be Physiology, I worked as a strength and conditioning coach and group fitness coach. Since graduating university, I’ve stepped into my role as an Exercise Physiologist and strongly believe that movement is medicine — it has the power to make a real difference for a lot of people. I have a particular interest in neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, but ultimately, I’m passionate about helping anyone improve their confidence, function, and quality of life. I’m excited for what the future holds at Be Physiology.

Growing up, sport and physical activity were simply a part of life and not much has changed since. These days you’ll find me in the gym, playing social volleyball, soccer, or out watching the footy. That lifelong love of movement is a big part of what drew me to Exercise Physiology, and it’s something I bring into every session.

I work primarily with neurological and neurodevelopmental populations, including NDIS participants, and I find this work genuinely rewarding. Seeing someone move better, feel more capable, or achieve a goal they weren’t sure was possible is what drives me as an exercise physiologist.

I’m not focused on a particular diagnosis; I’m focused on the person in front of me. We all have things we want to achieve, and sometimes that means overcoming daily frustrations that others might overlook. I believe in listening, then building a specific program for you.

Exercise is one of the most underutilised tools in healthcare, if you’re ready to use it, I’d like to help!

I’m NOT an exercise physiologist, but I do take my hat off to my team and get to admire the work they do each and every day. Be Physiology means that we’re able to apply our passion, and our experience, to make exercise physiology more accessible to the people who need it the most.
You might hear the team describe me as ‘the person who does everything else’, and that can be translated to ‘marketing and operations’. My background is marketing and business, which I’ve lived and breathed since 2011. I’ve worked in both the agency and corporate spaces, across many industries, with many amazing people and now with Be Physiology, I get to explore the health industry further and continue to meet the most incredible people who are the ones to define motivation.
If you’ve met Harry and our amazing exercise physiologists, you’d know that they don’t really need marketing – they’re genuine, have ridiculous amounts of charisma, knowledgeable, and extremely passionate about helping people to be a better version of themselves. But, sometimes getting an introduction is the hardest part and that’s where I come in.
If you want to chat, a coffee, a laugh, I’m always here to make one or all of them happen.
So call me and let’s keep sharing the love!
